Nigel Winterburn urges his former club Arsenal to make a move for James Maddison. The 57-year-old ex-Arsenal footballer has said that landing the 24-year-old attacker would be a major statement of intent from the faltering giants.

The Gunners have an urgent need to sign a creative midfielder this transfer window, seeing as they are yet to fill the void left by the exit of Odegaard at the end of his loan spell. While Norway international himself is a target for the Gunners, Maddison has emerged as a priority for them.

James is keen on joining the Gunners as well, but the transfer is proving to be quite a tricky one for Arsenal to engineer. Nevertheless, the Gunners have been advised by ex-English footballer Nigel Winterburn to launch the offensive for the Leicester City attacker to make a statement ahead of the long 2021/22 campaign.

Winterburn does make a lot of sense, seeing as James has proven to be one of the most potent creators in the PL since joining Leicester City from Norwich City.

However, his £70m price tag is proving to be a major hindrance for the Gunners, and it remains to be seen if they can land the English attacker for an acceptable sum. An intriguing couple of weeks beckon.
