Arsenal head-coach Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen to secure the services of Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar this summer.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the English capital in recent months, with North London giants seemingly reigniting their interest in the French midfielder.
According to The Athletic, Arteta is keen to sign a new midfielder to the Emirates Stadium before this summer’s transfer window closes for business.
However, the report suggests that senior figures at the Premier League teams have doubts over Aouar and are unsure whether his personality would fit in at the team.
The Frenchman could potentially be available for as little as €25m (£21.2m) and is regarded as a cheaper alternative to Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison.
Aouar, who has less than two years left before his current deal expires, has found back of the net 32 times and provided 31 assists in 171 games for Lyon in all competitions.
Arsenal are also eyeing a move for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves who has been rumoured with a departure from the team in the recent months, however, the player himself has ruled out a move to another team ahead of the 2021/22 season.
