“Everyone at Arsenal is extremely proud of Joe’s progress from our academy through to the first team. We wish you all the best in the next chapter of your career with Newcastle United,” an Arsenal statement read.
The 21-year-old midfielder came through the Arsenal ranks and made his debut in 2017 in a League Cup match against Doncaster for the North London club. Since then, he has gone on to make 78 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals in those matches.
By this move, he will end his 17-year long tie with the club, as the player joined the Gunners as a 4-year-old kid.
Newcastle United do require a midfielder who can drive them forward and can score goals, and they will be getting exactly that in Joe Willock. The young England international will also be getting a lot more game time at Newcastle, as the places at Arsenal has been jampacked.
